Where to Buy a PS5 in Time for the Holidays
The PS5 is out now, but it remains impossible to come by if you didn’t snagged a launch day pre-order.
The PS5 and PS5 digital, which are around $500 and $400, have experienced restocks, with Walmart going so far as to restock four times in a single day, but any restock anywhere is quick to sell out. It can be an all consuming endeavor trying to snag a PS5 in time for the holidays, and a lot of people are probably wondering if it’s even possible. With launch day far behind us, here are the most likely places where you can snag a PS5 in time for the holidays.
Walmart
Walmart has actually been leading the charge in terms of PS5 restocks. Throughout launch day, Walmart regularly restocked more than any other big box store. Inevitably, all four total restocks all sold out within minutes. At the moment, Walmart is currently sold out of any of the new next-gen consoles, but they announced they will start selling the PS5 as part of its Black Friday deals event, which kicks off on November 25th at 7pm.
Best Buy
Best Buy’s online store added additional PS5 stock, but very quickly sold out of all its PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition units. The units that have appeared have also warranted complaints from customers who say the PS5’s won’t be added to their carts. Needless to say, Best Buy hasn’t been on top of their game when it comes to restocks. They recently announced that they will unveil new stock on Black Friday, but Best Buy admitted that they won’t have any more in-unit purchases available until at least 2021.
Target
While Target has been pretty reliable in terms of restocks, they only offer in-store pick ups. Meaning, if you want a PS5, you gotta make sure to snag it online first before heading to your local Target. Entering a retail store in the midst of COVID can be a pretty scary endeavor, so those not willing to do that should stick to Walmart or other outlets that offer shipping. There is currently no restock times available for Target, so those interested should just keep hitting that refresh button.
Gamestop
Gamestop confirmed that they would offer a limited number of PS5 consoles online, but as is tradition for them, did not offer any further clarifying information about when that would happen. It has already happened for the Xbox Series X launch, but it happened spontaneously. As disheartening as that is, Gamestop stores do open at 7 a.m. so if you want to brave the retail world on that day, Gamestop is guaranteed to have new stock.
Amazon
Amazon has not indicated any restocking plans as of this morning, but with cyber monday coming up, we can almost guarantee that Amazon will have a few tricks up its sleeves come November 30. In the meantime, keep hitting that refresh button.
