Thuma, Floyd, Pottery Barn, Or West Elm? We Uncovered The Best Bed Frame in 2025

A bed is more than a piece of furniture; it’s where we get our much-needed rest. And while you might think having the right mattress is most important, a good night’s sleep starts with a quality bed frame.

But finding the right one can be overwhelming. Should you opt for a simple box spring? A platform bed frame with extra storage underneath? A classic four-poster?

Once you settle on a style, there are many other factors to consider, including the price, quality of materials, and perhaps most importantly, the assembly process — not all of us are DIY pros!

Our editors researched several of the best-selling Queen-sized bed frames on the market. Here’s what we found.

EDITOR’S PICK: Classic Bed, By Thuma | $1295

This bed frame is designed to last a lifetime. Drafted from genuine wood — with no veneers or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) — it boasts a simple, sleek, design that’s both timeless and minimalist.

Each bed frame is unique, showcasing the natural imperfections of the handcrafted, repurposed wood used to make it. Colors include Walnut, Natural, Espresso, and Gray, while sizes range from Twin all the way up to Cali King.

The Classic Bed, By Thuma is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified — which means it meets some of the world’s most intensive chemical emissions standards after rigorous testing.

But perhaps the best part of this frame is its Japanese Joinery assembly process. The bed frame arrives in just 11 pieces that are quick and easy to assemble by joining each rail together and locking the slats into place. In all, just two hand-tightened screws are required — no tools necessary.

The Classic Bed, By Thuma comes packaged in 3 recycled, styrofoam-free, easy-to-carry boxes that fit easily through hallways, doors, and around corners, so you won’t have to bribe a friend to help.

There are also two add-ons designed to perfectly complement this chic bed frame:

The Bed Frame, By Floyd | $956

Floyd’s The Bed Frame is made from wood veneer and finished steel, with clean geometric lines that lift it up to create its unique look. Designed for longevity, this bed frame is entirely customizable, so you can add or remove extra slats depending on your desired size, from Twin to King.

This frame is made of wood veneer (vs. solid wood), hence the lower price point. Finish types include Birch, American Oak, or Walnut, and you can opt for add-ons, such as the Upholstered Headboard to add a special extra design touch, plus Underbed Storage.

Shipping is also quick (2-4 days), and assembly instructions can be accessed via PDF — although that means you’ll need an internet connection or printer on-hand.

There are also quite a few parts to assemble, including end and middle supports, cork pads, tensioning straps.

The Farmhouse Bed, By Pottery Barn | $1599

Pottery Barn has a range of bed frames, but the Farmhouse Bed is a bestseller. Crafted from  kiln-dried solid pine wood, poplar wood, engineered hard wood/pine veneers and MDF, the Farmhouse Bed features a streamlined silhouette with decorative molding — hence the price tag.

This bed frame GREENGUARD Gold Certified and screened for over 1000 chemicals. It comes in different shades, including Montauk White, Sienna Brown, and Espresso and has an attached headboard.

Pottery Barn offers “White Glove Delivery,” where the bed is delivered by appointment and assembled by a skilled two-person team. For an additional fee (based on location), they’ll take care of everything — from unpacking to assembly to recycling materials.

While this frame is designed to prevent warping, splitting, and cracking, the hardware may loosen over time, so be sure to check it periodically and retighten anything if needed.

The Anton Solid Wood Bed, By West Elm | $1699

Crafted from kiln-dried, sustainably sourced solid mango wood with pine wood slats, The Anton Solid Wood Bed is a modern take on rustic farmhouse style, maikng it a definite style choice and not a minimalist or timeless look.

Each one of a kind piece can be used with or without a box spring, and select styles include extra mattress space to make room for bedding to be tucked under. Available in Burnt Wax and Cerused White, the natural wood variations add warmth and elegance to your bedroom.

West Elm makes their beds in a  Fair Trade Certified™ factory, which empowers workers and manufacturers to meet the demands of residential use. Like Pottery Barn, West Elm offers a “White glove delivery” service that covers unpacking, assembly, and packaging removal/recycling.

Keep in mind that solid wood can be affected by heat and humidity — which can cause things like hairline cracks — so it’s best to avoid direct contact with AC units or heating vents.
