Sustainable Is The New Black. Shop These Chic, Conscious Brands

Fashion is one of the most pollutive industries in the world. Yikes. Hard to think that the things we covet, love, and wear on a night out are majorly contributing to global warming. But every day, new initiatives and brands come out to figure out how to do things better. Of course, the most sustainable way to shop is to not shop — reusing and repairing everything until it’s threadbare.

But let’s be realistic. I love clothes. I love beautiful things that help me express myself. But a powerful evolution is underway, helping us feel better about our purchases with clothes we can be proud of wearing. It’s not all burlap sacks and patched jeans — though that’s pretty much what they sell at Bode, so I can’t look down on it. As the fashion industry undergoes a transformative shift towards eco-consciousness, a cohort of trailblazing brands emerges, redefining the very essence of cool and chic.

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword in these circles — it’s a fundamental principle woven into every stitch and fiber, a philosophy that resonates far beyond the runway. These brands stand as vanguards of change, disrupting traditional fashion norms by placing ethical production, eco-friendly materials, and transparent supply chains at the forefront of fashion.

These sustainable clothing brands aren’t just about fashion; they’re leading a revolution, redefining style while championing ethical production, eco-friendly materials, and a commitment to creating a positive impact on the planet.

Reformation

Reformation has become a sustainable giant. Every It-girl shops at Ref. It’s the sustainable version of Zara, Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Madewell combined — there’s truly something for everyone. Its flirtatious designs prove that sustainability and style are not mutually exclusive. Reformation has even done collabs with some of our favorite style stars (the Reformation x Camille Rowe collection is the peak of the Rockstar Girlfriend aesthetic) and expanded to Vintage to broaden their range even further and keep up with fashion-forward individuals. With a focus on eco-friendly fabrics and a commitment to minimizing their environmental footprint.

Their transparency and advocacy for ethical practices set them apart in the sustainable fashion landscape. They even have a recycling program that lets you buy pre-loved Patagonia items for more affordable prices. The rugged allure and fervent environmental activism set a precedent for durability and eco-consciousness in outdoor wear. And the CEO gave all his money to charity — so you know their values aren’t all talk.
