See Which Healthy Meal Delivery Service Wins!
Everyone’s staying at home these days, and for a lot of people, that means avoiding grocery stores as much as possible.
Luckily, thanks to meal delivery and meal kit services, no matter how overloaded you are, you can still live a healthy life.
Convenience is king. Having ready to heat, healthy meals delivered to your door means less trips to the grocery store, but it can be hard to know which one is best for you.
Our editors did some research, and decided to try the three brands everyone is talking about- Daily Harvest, Revive and Splendid Spoon.
Here’s all the details:
Splendid Spoon:
Splendid Spoonis super convenient. Their smoothies arrive ready-to-drink, and their soups and grain bowls require just a few minutes in the microwave. All recipes are low in sugar, all vegan, and GMO-free. They have a variety of 40+ meals to choose from each week, so you’ll never get bored.
In terms of taste, we were pleasantly surprised by how tasty and filling all of the Splendid Spoon recipes are. The ingredients they use are super impressive – superfood after superfood such as acai (strengthens immunity and boosts energy), Spirulina (jump-starts endurance), and baobab (great for your skin!) and tons of other natural all-star ingredients that help you feel your best. They also have lemon and ginger Wellness Shots for an extra immunity boost.
Regarding value, Splendid Spoon is super affordable, meals around $8 each. Considering the vast amount of ingredients and nutrients you are getting, it’s a really good deal. Plus, we’re found using Splendid Spoon actually saved us money- we ended up spending way less on our weekly grocery store run.
Overall, Splendid Spoon is not only good for you, but they taste really delicious, too. We can’t get enough of the Mint Chip Smoothie- tastes like a healthy milkshake!
Daily Harvest:
Daily Harvest’s soups and smoothies arrive frozen, and simply need to be blended or warmed up. They use an impressive range of superfood ingredients that help with immunity, digestion and sleep. They have over 60 recipes to choose from each week- we love that!
Let’s talk price- Daily Harvest smoothies are around the $8 mark each also, but are half the size of Splendid Spoon smoothies, so aren’t quite as filling. We found ourselves getting a little hungry between meals.
We really enjoyed all of the smoothies and bowls we tried. There’s lots of delicious cuisines to sample. Our favorite by far is the Mint + Cacao Smoothie- so good!
Overall, we liked Daily Harvest. The prep time isn’t bad, the meals are delicious and we love that it comes right to our doorstep.
Revive:
Just like the other two, Revive are all about those superfood ingredients, which we all need right now. They deliver nutrient-dense soups, smoothies and oats to your door every week. Everything arrives frozen, so you don’t have to worry about its shelf life. Like Daily Harvest, the smoothies need to be blended, which takes a couple of minutes. Their ingredients list is equally as impressive as Splendid Spoon and Daily Harvest- ginger, coconut oil, turmeric, to name a few.
Price-wise, their meals start at $6.49 for a 7oz serving-a great deal, but again, that’s half the size of Splendid Spoon.
All of the Revive Smoothies and soups we tried tasted great, they have lots of smoothie flavors to choose from, and we could really taste all of the different ingredients. They only have 4 Super Meal options, so we kinda get bored of those pretty fast. However, we loved the Buddhacado bowl. Packed full of avocado and chickpeas-so filling.
Overall Winner: Splendid Spoon
At a time like this, having nourishing meals delivered to our door was awesome, so we enjoyed our experience with all three. Having said that, the winner in our eyes is Splendid Spoon. Their meals are super flavorful and healthy and leave you feeling full and energized. But the main thing is, Splendid Spoon is by far the most convenient.
Their delicious smoothies make mornings easy peasy. Even better, their grain bowls and soups involve zero prep – simply pop them in the microwave. Plus, their plans are the most affordable, starting at $8 per meal. By far the best value for money out of the three considering their portion sizes are the biggest.
The subscription couldn’t be more convenient, delivering meals that are basically ready to eat to your doorstep. Plus, it’s super flexible and you can pause or skip at any time.
