Best Fall Home Items That Stay Cozy All Year Round

Summer is my favorite season, don’t get me wrong. But after three straight months of back-and-forth travel from the city to the beach, disrupting my routine and providing unnecessary chaos in my anxiety-filled life, I’m ready to settle down. And for me, that means making my apartment as cozy as possible.

The fall is quintessential to big, chunky sweaters, knit blankets, and candles flickering by the fireplace. It’s for having a good book and a cup of tea on hand. And since stores have already rolled out a ton of Halloween decor, I’m thinking about pumpkin everything.

Yes, we must succumb to Pumpkin Spice Season whether we want to or not. I’m pulling out my best pumpkin bread recipes. And football season makes it tougher to deny.

Since I want to feel snug like a bug in my home during this fall season, I’ve been looking for home items that are fall-inspired but will look fine in my apartment all year round. I don’t want to store a bunch of fall stuff in my tiny closet.

So, we’re talking about longevity here. It’s important to look for chunky knits, apple-cinnamon scents, and fall hues like burgundy and burnt oranges. You’ll want your pieces to be neutral enough that they can lend themselves to year-round decor!

I’m an expert at finding the best fall home decor that can live in your home all year long, so here are my favorite picks for 2024:

Quince Terracotta European Linen Deluxe Duvet Set

These sheets have changed my life for the better. I used to not care about my cheap sheets, or if they were a polyester blend…until Quince. I’ve tried both the Sateen Sheets and the Linen, and, honestly, I can’t choose a favorite.

These burnt orange terracotta linen sheets are on my wishlist. While I opted for eggshell, I love the pop of color they add. If you’re a mid-century modern aesthete, these sheets will fit your vibe perfectly.

Plus, they’re so fall.

NEST New York Pumpkin Chai Candle

NEST

If there’s one piece of fall decor that can be left out year-round, it’s a candle. Fall is such a fantastic time of year because the seasonal candles can cover unpleasant scents with a warm and cozy aroma. Light an apple-cinnamon candle in your bathroom and it’ll always smell like the holidays in there.

But I’m here to speak to the NEST New York Pumpkin Chai scented candle, which is just as heavenly as it sounds. It’s like a pumpkin pie is constantly baking in your home. Plus, it’s long lasting and the packaging is adorable.

If you’re not a Diptyque person, NEST is the way to go.

Burnt Orange Chunky Knit Blanket

Again, burnt orange is a terrific shade for your living room. It warms up your space, makes it feel more home-y, and gives a throwback vibe. This blanket is chic enough to keep you warm, leave out, and it adds a nice accent to your space.

Whether it’s your bedroom, living room, or office, this is a great fall addition to your home.

Fall Wheat Arrangement

Dried floral arrangements are much easier — and cleaner — alternatives to real flowers. You don’t have to replenish them each week, there’s no upkeep needed for those lacking a green thumb, and you can save a bunch on flower arrangements.

This wheat arrangement is marvelous for the fall, and can remain in the room all year. Plus, they make wonderful housewarming gifts.

Velvet Touches

Anthropologie

Two other items remind me of autumn: deep browns and velvet. What’s going to last you year round are pieces that stay relevant without screaming holiday — so they won’t be emblazoned with pumpkins and ghosts.

For me, velvet is a huge cold-weather fabric. This taupe-y, caramel-y brown gives a cozy fall look without screaming “I love Halloween soooo much.”

I like velvet pillows for the vintage aspect — these Anthropologie pillows are divine.

If You Can’t Live Without Pumpkins…

Anthropologie

Look, I’m not the Grinch. We can still have holiday decor without overwhelming your space. So, give a subtle nod to the Halloween and approaching Thanksgiving season. So, no in-your-face pumpkins. Try softening their presence with a farmhouse aesthetic.

Anthropologie’s Harvest Glass Bud Vase works year-round because it’s discreet. It makes for a lovely touch to your home. You’ll get compliments — a total win-win.
