Cutest Halloween Costumes For Women
Spooky season is officially upon us! Time to conjure up with some fang-tastic costume ideas to rock this Halloween — whether you’re going for a solo fit or planning something spooktacular with your core group of friends.
Halloween season is without a single doubt the *best* time of year, so we’re gonna get you ahead of the game by planning out the most Instagramable look as soon as possible.
Whether you’re a coquette girly or a gothic baddie, this list runs the full spectrum of costume options that are the precise aesthetic you’re going for. Ready to choose?
Glinda
Are you as excited for the new Wicked movie as I am? I’ve personally been dying to see Ariana Grande in this role since the moment I first saw her on Victorious. I couldn’t help but notice how similar her bubbly/ultra-girly persona is to The Good Witch, so I’ll be elbowing my way to first-in-line at the midnight screening.
This look is pop-u-lar. You’re gonna be popuuuular.
For a stripped down, casual version of this look, I love the Phillipa Mini Dress in Pink from Princess Polly. For something a bit more outwardly girly and Glinda-fied, try this adorable Straplie Mini Dress in Pink. It simply *screams* Glinda.
Beverly and Beck Alessia Corset Mini Dress from Pacsun is another perfect match.
Elphaba
Are you a Glinda or an Elphaba? Although I personally identify as more of a Glinda, the sheer wickednessssss of this Wicked Witch of the West fit might convince me otherwise… Check out this insanely chic witch hat from Boohoo paired with this LA Hearts Velvet Corset Mini Dress from Pacsun.
Modern-Day Snow White
With the upcoming Snow White movie hitting theaters soon, this updated version of the classic Disney princess is bound to get some buzz. If you’d rather not splurge on a pre-made costume via Amazon, this is super easy to DIY. Just grab your fave blue top, yellow skirt, and red hair ribbon. Vwella! You’re good to go, m’dears.
Check out this lush shade of blue! Contour Ophelia cinched tank top from Pacsun. Simply made for this costume. Pair it with this Low Rise Puffball Mini Skirt in Butter Yellow from Boohoo to complete the look.
Modern-Day Belle
Belle will always be my favorite Disney Princess. Her obsession with books and poor taste in men is just like me!
Nasty Gal offers a magnificent updated version of the iconic Beauty and the Beast gown. Check out the Corset Laced Back Mini Dress in buttercup yellow — simply sumptuous. For something more subtle, try Edikted Cyrene Mesh Mini Skirt from Pacsun also in yellow.
Modern-Day Cinderella
Who in their right mind doesn’t love Cinderella? She is such an OG Disney Princess, with the most timeless dress! But if you don’t wanna go to your next Halloween party in a full-on ballgown crafted by your fairy godmother, we totally understand.
Update this look to a contempo Cinderella by grabbing your favorite little blue dress. I suggest Pacsun’s Active Sunrise Dress in blue for something more chill. You can also go with Pacsun’s Mesh Mini Dress in blue to achieve the full elegance of this look. Just be sure to add the blue ribbon in your hair and the black choker necklace so people know exactly what you’re going for!
Modern-Day Tiana
I am utterly obsessed with Tiana from The Princess and The Frog. Her costume is just so gorgeous, blending seamlessly with New Orleans’ festive ambience in the Disney film.
There are some lovely modern-day Tiana costumes on Amazon, but I personally prefer a fit you can wear on multiple occasions not merely Halloween. This Jordana Mini Dress in green from Princess Polly is just magnificent. And it absolutely resembles Princess Tiana’s gown.
I also love the Irena Strapless Mini Dress in green, for a simpler version of the look.
Modern-Day Jasmine
Another to-die-for Disney Princess. Jasmine is the most up-to-date girl in the bunch, so not too much adjustment is needed here. With Princess Jasmine, there are so many stunning DIY options to choose from, as well as pre-designed looks for purchase.
I’m a massive fan of Boohoo’s Plus Textured Off Shoulder Top and Maxi Skirt Two-Piece Set. This is a great plus-size option for Aladdin fans this Halloween.
Tinker Bell
Ah, Tinker Bell… The fact that she literally dies in Peter Pan because she doesn’t get enough attention? Relatable!
I love her look so much, because it’s quite moderne. I’ve been eyeing this Phillipa mini dress in sage from Princess Polly for a while now, cause it would make such an awesome Tink costume. Pair that with some fairy wings, and you’ve got yourself a marvelous costume.
Modern-Day Princess Group Costume
To wrap up the Disney Princess section, it can be really cute to go with your girlfriends as modern versions of these characters. How fun?
Modern-Day Corpse Bride
(Me! Screenshot from my Instagram)
Welp. Here’s a picture of yours truly dressed as a modern day version of Emily from The Corpse Bride. This has been my favorite movie for years now, so I couldn’t say no to the opportunity. I got my blue wig on Amazon, and the wonderful custom-made Corpse Bride sleaves from Etsy.
I got so many compliments on this look!
You can also get these delightful skeleton gloves from Boohoo in their Halloween collection.
Jennifer Check
I’ve seen the movie Jennifer’s Body so many times that I’ve pretty much have it memorized. Who wouldn’t want to dress up as Megan Fox playing an evil soul-sucking succubus?
There are so many looks to choose from in this 2009 cult classic, it’s virtually impossible to run out of possibilities. This Opalette Strapless Mini Dress in cream from Princess Polly reminds me so much of the dress Jennifer wears at the end of the movie during the Devil’s Kettle prom gone wrong.
Pennywise, but make it Chic
Who said Pennywise can’t be a fashion icon? Wanna add a bit of fright to your Halloween costume, this one is sure to do the trick. Just try not to run into The Losers’ Club while you’re out, because they’re on a direct mission to kick you out of Derry.
Boohoo’s Cotton Volume Mini Dress matched with some added on red puffballs, clown make up, and a red balloon will effortlessly complete the look.
Blair Waldorf
Can we just admit Blair had the best style on Gossip Girl, already? Those headbands were a character in their own right.
Now is it just me or does this Houndstooth pleated mini skirt from Boohoo just scream Blair Waldorf?
You know you love me. XOXO.
Serena Van Der Woodsen
Blake Lively controversies aside, Serena Vanderwoodsen sure knew how to rock the disheveled party girl look with style. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this Pleated Pocket Detail Mini Skirt from Boohoo is very Serena-core.
Nina Sayers – Black Swan
Another movie that I’ve seen so many times I practically have it memorized. Whether you want to go as the white swan or the black swan, there are so many smashing options to choose from. I like pairing Boohoo’s Halloween Crystal Crown with Princess Polly’s luscious White Swan Ballerina Skirt.
Barbie Girl in a Barbie World
Of course, you just can’t go wrong with the Barbie look — Like, ever.
Here are some adorable Barbie-Chic fits from Nasty Gal’s Premium Tailored Diamante Heart set to Princess Polly’s Eldoni Strapless Mini Dress in pink.
Who will you be dressing up as this Halloween?
