Plant-based diets are becoming more and more popular for a multitude of reasons: they’re better for the environment, they’re great for your health, and of course, they’re cruelty-free.

A lot of people are trying to eat less meat for these reasons. Whether you’re looking to go cold turkey (excuse the pun) and cut out meat entirely, or you’re trying to cut down, services like Splendid Spoon make the possibility feel less daunting.

Splendid Spoon is a delivery service with a weekly rotating menu of prepared vegan smoothies, soups, and rice and noodle bowls.

Our editor tried Splendid Spoon for a month to see if it helped us cut some meat out of our diets and to see if it’s a service we’d recommend:

I signed up for the weekly Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner + 1 Day Reset, which means I get 5 breakfast smoothies and 5 lunch bowls, 5 dinner bowls (a hearty, vegan soup, grain bowl or noodles!) plus a 1 day soup reset delivered chilled or frozen in insulated packaging to your doorstep every week.

The sign-up took 2 minutes, and I got to choose which smoothies, soups, and grain bowls I wanted for that week. The ingredients lists include an array of superfoods and antioxidants, I could tell they’re super nutritious.

My delivery arrived a few days later, and I placed all the meals in my fridge knowing they would be good for a week, but they can also be kept in the freezer for up to a month.

First thing the next morning, I grabbed the Raspberry Cacao Smoothie straight from the fridge for a zero prep breakfast. It was tasty and curbed my sweet tooth. I had the Red Beet Buddha Bowl for lunch which I really enjoyed and was surprised at how much it filled me.

A week in, and I’m loving how Splendid Spoon’s five-day plan gave me the balance I needed. I still ate whatever I felt like over the weekend, but knew that my healthy Splendid Spoon meals would be waiting for me on Monday morning.

The more meals I tried, the more I loved Splendid Spoon. Their Green Matcha Smoothie was so good, not like any other green smoothie I’d attempted to drink before. Their Lentil & Kale Soup is so wholesome and the perfect lunchtime meal. I always felt satisfied and recharged after eating my Splendid Spoon meals.

As the weeks went on, I began to realize why I hadn’t been able to eat this well in the past: Splendid Spoon provides convenience. There’s no prep, no cooking, no waiting for it to be delivered, no shopping for ingredients, and no searching for recipes. Splendid Spoonmakes eating nutrient-packed meals simple and accessible.

Splendid Spoon saves me lots of time throughout the day, I never had to worry about what I would have for breakfast or lunch on the weekdays. I’m fuelled throughout the day and able to focus on my work more than I ever have before.

Personally, I’m not sure if I’m ready to cut out hamburgers or take out entirely, but Splendid Spoon makes me feel good about cutting down on meat and doing something for my overall wellness. If you’re looking to eat more plant-based, nutritious meals, I’d highly recommend Splendid Spoon.
